Adco Flupain Syrup

ADCO FLUPAIN provides symptomatic relief of colds and flu associated with cough in children 2 years and older. Paracetamol is used to relieve pain and reduce fever associated with colds and flu. Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride works by narrowing the blood vessels, leading to clearing of nasal congestion. Triprolidine is an antihistamine, which works by preventing the effects of a substance produced by the body called histamine.

Do not give ADCO FLUPAIN:

• If your child has a hypersensitivity (allergic) to paracetamol, pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, triprolidine or any of the other ingredients of ADCO FLUPAIN (listed in section 6).
• If your child has a heart disease.
• If your child has thyrotoxicosis (a condition that happens when you have too much thyroid hormone in your body showing signs of unexplained weight loss, a rapid heart rate and shakiness).
• If your child has disease of the prostate gland or bladder dysfunction.
• If your child has damage to the nerve in the eye caused by pressure inside the eye rising rapidly because fluid cannot drain out.
• If your child has pheochromocytoma (tumor of special glands most often found in the adrenal glands).
• If your child is taking monoamine oxidase inhibitor treatment (certain medicines used for depression), or within 14 days of such treatment.
• If your child is under 2 years of age.
• During an asthma attack.
• If your child is inhaling anaesthetic during surgery.
• If your child has very high blood pressure (severe hypertension) or hypertension not controlled by your medication.
• If your child has severe acute (sudden) or chronic (long-term) kidney disease or kidney failure.

Do not share medicines prescribed for you with any other person. Always give ADCO FLUPAIN exactly according to instructions. You should check with a doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure. The usual dose is:

• Children 2 to 5 years: 5 ml three times a day.
• Children 6 to 12 years: 5 ml - 10 ml three times a day.

Not for use in children under 2 years of age. Consult your doctor if no relief is obtained with the recommended dosage. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE Do not use ADCO FLUPAIN for longer than 10 days without consulting a doctor. Shake the bottle before use.

ADCO FLUPAIN can have side effects. Not all side effects reported for ADCO FLUPAIN are included in this leaflet. Should your general health worsen or if you experience any untoward effects while taking ADCO FLUPAIN, please consult your health care provider for advice.

If any of the following happens, stop giving ADCO FLUPAIN and tell your doctor immediately or go to the casualty department at your nearest hospital:

• Your child has an allergic reaction. The signs may include: shortness of breath, wheezing, difficulty breathing, rash, itching, hives on the skin, swelling of your lips, face or throat.
• Your child gets a headache, feels confused or has a seizure.
• Your child has mouth ulcers, cold sores and ulcers or soreness on their tongue.
• Your child has skin lumps or hives (raised, red or white, itchy patches of skin).
• Your child has blisters on their skin or inside their mouth, nose, vagina or bottom.
• The appearance of a rash or sunburn when they have been outside (even on a cloudy day).
• Swelling of the eyelids, face, tongue or lips.
• Severe dizziness.
• Difficulty in breathing.
• Serious skin reactions such as swelling, itching, red severe rash especially those covering your whole body (appearing as allergic wheals), stop giving ADCO FLUPAIN immediately and contact your doctor (see Section 2).
• Serious conditions affecting blood vessels in the brain known as posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) and reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS). Stop using ADCO FLUPAIN immediately and seek urgent medical attention if you develop symptoms, that may be signs of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) and reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS). These include:
• Severe headache with a sudden onset.
• Feeling sick.
• Vomiting.
• Confusion.
• Seizures.
• Changes in vision.

Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children. Store in a well-closed container, at or below 25 °C. Protect from light. Store in the original container in a cool place. Keep the container tightly closed and do not store the product in bathrooms in order to protect from moisture. Do not use after the expiry date on the label. Do not dispose of unused medicines in drains or sewerage systems.
