MUCOSOLV CAPSULES are used for treatment of respiratory tract disorders where there is excessive mucous without infection. MUCOSOLV CAPSULES are usually used together with other medicines used to treat respiratory tract disorders.

Do not take MUCOSOLV CAPSULES
- if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to carbocisteine or any of the other ingredients of MUCOSOLV CAPSULES (listed in section 6)
- if you have an active peptic ulcer.
Warnings and precautions
Take special care with MUCOSOLV CAPSULES
- if you have a history of peptic ulcers or duodenal disease.
Other medicines and MUCOSOLV CAPSULES
Always tell your healthcare professional if you are taking any other medicine. (This includes complementary or traditional medicines.)
MUCOSOLV CAPSULES with food and drink
It is best to take MUCOSOLV CAPSULES with meals.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, please consult your doctor, pharmacist or other health care provider for advice before taking MUCOSOLV CAPSULES.
Driving and using machines
MUCOSOLV CAPSULES have no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
3. How to take MUCOSOLV CAPSULES
Do not share medicines prescribed for you with any other person. Always take MUCOSOLV CAPSULES exactly as your doctor has instructed you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
The usual dose is:
Adults: Two (2) capsules three (3) times daily, reducing to one (1) capsule four (4) times daily when a satisfactory response has been obtained.
If you take more MUCOSOLV CAPSULES than you should
If you take more MUCOSOLV CAPSULES than you should, you may experience gastrointestinal disturbances. In the event of overdosage, consult your doctor or pharmacist. If neither is available, contact the nearest hospital or poison control centre.
If you forget to take / miss a dose of MUCOSOLV CAPSULES
Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten individual doses.
4. Possible side effects
MUCOSOLV CAPSULES can have side effects. The most frequent side effects are nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting and gastric discomfort. Skin rashes and headaches can occur. Not all side effects reported for MUCOSOLV CAPSULES are included in this leaflet. Should your general health worsen or if you experience any untoward effects while taking this medicine, please consult your doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional for advice.
If any of the following happens, stop taking MUCOSOLV CAPSULES and tell your doctor immediately or go to the casualty department at your nearest hospital:
- swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, mouth or throat, which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing,
- rash or itching,
- fainting,
- yellowing of the skin and eyes, also called jaundice
These are all very serious side effects. If you have them, you may have had a serious allergic reaction to MUCOSOLV CAPSULES. You may need urgent medical attention or hospitalisation.

If you get side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. 5. How to store MUCOSOLV CAPSULES
- Store all medicines out of reach of children.
- Store at or below 25 °C.
- Store in the original package.
- Do not use after the expiry date stated on the label.
- Return all unused medicine to your pharmacist.
- Do not dispose of unused medicine in drains or sewerage systems (e.g., toilets).
