Each capsule contains either 100 or 200 mg celecoxib. XIBECIL treats pain, inflammation, fever and belongs to a group of medicines called specific cyclooxygenase 2 (COX - 2) inhibitors. XIBECIL is used in the treatment of inflammation and pain in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. XIBECIL is also used in the treatment of pain following an operation, including dental surgery, musculoskeletal pain, primary dysmenorrhoea and helps to relieve the signs and symptoms of progressive stiffening of the spine known as ankylosing spondylitis. Your body makes substances called prostaglandins. Some prostaglandins cause pain and swelling, whilst others help protect the stomach lining. XIBECIL works by reducing the amount of prostaglandins which produce pain and swelling without reducing the protective prostaglandins in the stomach.

Duration of administration
Your doctor will tell you how long your treatment with XIBECIL will last. If you have the impression that the effect of XIBECIL is too strong or too weak, tell your doctor.
As the cardiovascular risks of XIBECIL may increase with dose and duration of exposure, the shortest duration possible and the lowest effective daily dose should be used.
If you take more XIBECIL than you should
In the event of overdosage, consult your doctor. If not available, contact the nearest hospital or poison centre.
