Zidoval Douche contains the active substance benzydamine hydrochloride and is used in patients 18 years of age and older. Zidoval Douche is used as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and pain reliever for vulvovaginitis featuring vaginal discharges, itching, irritation, burning and vulvar pain. If symptoms do not resolve within 7 days, consult your doctor. Zidoval Douche is used for personal hygiene after giving birth.

Do not use Zidoval Douche if:
- you are hypersensitive to benzydamine hydrochloride or to any of the other ingredients of Zidoval Douche (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Take special care with Zidoval Douche:
- Repeated use can give rise to sensitisation phenomena (allergic reactions). In this case, stop the treatment and consult your doctor to start a suitable therapy. See section 4 "Possible side effects".
- Tell you doctor before you use Zidoval Douche if you have a whitish or yellowish discharge of mucus or bleeding from the vagina.
Other medicines and Zidoval Douche
Always tell your healthcare provider if you are taking any other medicine. (This includes all complementary or traditional medicines.)
3. How to use Zidoval Douche
Do not share medicines prescribed for you with any other person. Always use Zidoval Douche exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse has told you. Check with your doctor, pharmacist or nurse if you are not sure.
Zidoval Douche is inserted into the vagina undiluted with the applicator (applied intravaginally). Use 1-2 irrigations per day for seven days consecutively. Zidoval Douche can be used at room temperature. If necessary, it can be tempered by immersing the sealed bottle in warm water. Do not overheat the douche.
For optimal treatment success, use Zidoval Douche as follows:
- If possible, the vagina should be rinsed while lying down, either in a bathtub or over a wash bowl. However, it can also be used while sitting on the toilet or on the bidet.
- Take the bottle in one hand and hold the edge of the bottle underneath the protective cap between your thumb and forefinger (no screw cap).
- Now break off the protective cap with your other hand by moving it sideways and remove it.
- Pull out the white applicator until it clicks into place. In order for the applicator to click into place, a certain resistance must be overcome, which is noticeable by a cracking noise.
- Now insert the applicator into the vagina and push the bottle out until it is empty.
- Then pull the applicator out of the vagina while it is compressed. In order for the effect of Zidoval Douche to take full effect, the liquid should remain in the vagina for a few minutes.
If you use more Zidoval Douche than you should
If you accidentally swallow some medicine, contact immediately your doctor or pharmacist for advice. If neither is available, contact the nearest hospital or poison centre.
If you forget to use Zidoval Douche
Do not use a double dose to make up for forgotten individual doses.
4. Possible side effects
Zidoval Douche can have side effects. Not all side effects reported for Zidoval Douche are included in this leaflet. Should your general health worsen or if you experience any untoward effects while taking Zidoval Douche, please consult your healthcare provider for advice.
Tell your doctor immediately or go to the casualty department at your nearest hospital if you notice any of the following:
- Local irritation in the form of burning and itching.
These are all serious side effects. You may need urgent medical attention.
Reporting of side effects
If you get side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of Zidoval Douche.
5. How to store Zidoval Douche
Store all medicine out of reach of children. Store at or below 25 °C in a dry place. Store in the original package in order to protect the medicine from light and moisture. Do not use the vaginal solution after the expiry date shown on the container. Return the expired medicine to your pharmacist for safe disposal.
