Allergex Mepyramine Cream

ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM contains a medicine called mepyramine maleate. ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM is an anti-allergy medicine. It works by blocking a natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction.

The active substance is: Mepyramine maleate 2 g

The other ingredients are: Emulsifying wax, Liquid paraffin and Purified water.

ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM is used to relieve:

• Pain, itching and inflammation caused by insect stings, bites and nettle rash.

Do not take ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM

• If you are hypersensitive (allergic) to mepyramine maleate or any of the other ingredients of ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM
• Should not be used for acute vesicular and exudative dermatoses
• Should not be used in premature infants or neonates.
• Should not be used with an air and water tight trauma medical dressing (occlusive dressings).
• Should not be used on broken skin.

Warnings and precautions

Take special care with ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM:

• Do not apply ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM repeatedly for periods longer than a few days and discontinue treatment immediately if an allergic response to a medicine after skin contact (skin sensitisation) occurs.

Other medicines and ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM:

Always tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicine. (This includes all complementary or traditional medicines).

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility:

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding your baby, please consult your doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional for advice before taking this medicine. The safety of ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM in pregnancy and lactation has not been established.

Driving and using machinery

You may feel drowsy or sleepy if this medicine is applied to large areas. If this happens, do not drive or use any tools or machines.

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is: Apply to the affected area two to three times a day for up to three days

Do not share this medicine with any other person.

If you use more ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM than you should

If you use more ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM than you were told to, consult your doctor or pharmacist. If neither is available, seek help at the nearest hospital or poison control centre.

If you forget to use ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM

Do not double amount of cream to make up for forgotten application.

Not all side effects reported for ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM are included in this leaflet. Should your general health worsen or if you experience any untoward effects while taking this ALLERGEX MEPYRAMINE CREAM, please consult your doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional for advice.

• An increase in skin redness, swelling and itching in area where you have used the cream. This might be due to mild allergic reaction.
• An increase in sensitivity of the skin to sunlight in the area where the cream was used.

Store at or below 25 ºC. Protect from light. Keep tightly closed

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN

Do not store in a bathroom

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the label/ tube.

Return all unused medicine to your pharmacist

Do not dispose of unused medicine in drains or sewerage systems (e.g. toilets).
