WESIKUMBA ointment in used for the treatment of ringworm (fungal infection), scabies (intensely itchy skin condition caused by a tiny, burrowing mite), acne (pimples and blackheads), eczema (dry, itchy, bumpy skin) and seborrheic dermatitis (a skin condition caused by increased secretion of the oil-forming glands), as well as cradle cap (crusted scalp lesions in babies).

Do not use WESIKUMBA:
- if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to sulphur or any of the other ingredients of WESIKUMBA (listed in section 6).

- If you are on any medicine or suffer from any medical condition, please consult your health care provider before using WESIKUMBA ointment.
- Do not exceed the recommended dosage unless advised to do so by your health care provider.
WESIKUMBA OINTMENT IS FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY
Other medicines and WESIKUMBA
Always tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicine. (This includes all complementary or traditional medicines.) There are no known interactions with WESIKUMBA.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding your baby, please consult your doctor, pharmacist or other health care professional for advice before using WESIKUMBA. Safety in pregnancy and lactation has not been established.
Driving and using machines
WESIKUMBA will not affect your ability to drive or use machines.
3. How to use WESIKUMBA
Do not share medicines prescribed for you with any other person. Always use WESIKUMBA exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Apply 2 – 3 times a day to the affected area. FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.
If you use more WESIKUMBA than you should
In the event of overdosage, consult your doctor or pharmacist. If neither is available, contact the nearest hospital or poison centre.
If you forget to use WESIKUMBA
Continue with the next dose as directed. Do not use double the amount to make up for forgotten individual doses.
4. Possible side effects
WESIKUMBA can have side effects. Not all side effects reported for WESIKUMBA are included in this leaflet. Should your general health worsen, or if you experience any untoward effects while taking WESIKUMBA, please consult your health care provider for advice. Tell your doctor if you notice any of the following:
Frequency unknown:
- Prolonged use may give rise to local skin irritation, such as dry, red, itchy and swollen skin.
If you notice any side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.
Reporting of side effects
If you get side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. You can also report side effects to SAHPRA via the “6.04 Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting Form”, found online under SAHPRA’s publications: https://www.sahpra.org.za/Publications/Index/8. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of WESIKUMBA.
5. How to store WESIKUMBA
- Store at or below 25 ˚C. Protect from light.
- Keep the container tightly closed.
- Do not store in a bathroom.
- Do not use after the expiry date stated on the label.
- Store all medicines out of reach of children.
- Return all unused medicine to your pharmacist.
- Do not dispose of unused medicine in drains or sewerage systems (e.g. toilets).
